I can't believe we're so close - only 2 weeks away until Heed Yourself Bali Retreat!! I've poured some heart and soul into designing this retreat and cannot wait to share it with you all in a place that's very special to me, which I'm sure will be for you as well.
While it's coming up fast, I still have 2 spots left with some insanely cheap flights for those who like to make big, bold decisions for life! If you're that person - message me now! The rest of you, see you in Bali! Much love ~
Traveling allows us a unique opportunity to acquire greater understanding of cultures, humanity, and the world around us. This we already know. The effect of taking one's personal practice outside the routine comfort zone can wildly enhance one's perspective of the world and self. Combine the two for a life changing experience.
30 days until the commencement of the next 2016 Heed Yourself Bali Retreat. Can't wait to lead practice and share laughs and breakthroughs in this space. This is what all the planning and prepping leads to - bliss in waiting! Will you be joining us?
A couple spots left. Time is of the essence, just a few weeks away 🤗❤️
Just a kind reminder that if you've been thinking or saying you're coming to the Bali Retreat in October, the early bird prices last a couple more days, so now is the time to act! Lock in those rates with a deposit which will hold your confirmed villa spot and attendance on the best trip adventure and retreat for yourself! It is my strong belief that investment in one's self is the best one will ever make. By being the best versions of ourselves, we are able to give more to the rest of the world and to those we love. You always come first, otherwise you will not be able to put anyone else first. That's how I see it. In other words, never feel guilty for retreating yourself! There will always be reasons not to, but only one reason to go. That reason is YOU.
The theme of this year's retreat, as you know, is Heed Yourself in Bali, and all the details are found on this link www.heedfitness.com/bali, where you can register and hold your spot with the early bird price.
Flights are STILL cheap! And we still have a few villas left. :)
Here is the FB Invite if you like to see what others are up to as well. https://www.facebook.com/events/120237798372292/
As always, please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions, etc.
Attached is our featured page in LA Yoga Magazine's Retreat & Festivals section. :) I'm honored and stocked to be alongside such talented people hosting events around the globe.
I hope you can join our awesome group - friends for lifetime is really how it always pans out. And, most importantly, an experience for yourself which will change you forever. Truly, just find out for yourself.
While i don't necessarily advocate keeping straight all the time (the body is meant to have mobility across multiple planes), where there is pain, strain or tweaks of any kind, getting into the stabilizers works wonders.
Handstand might apply, but not always. It might be forward fold, simple tadasana. The simple gets you back to the bold, powerful, even explosive movements (my alter ego which many only see in class :) That being said, the tiniest exercises can bring the greatest results. Give them a try.
The terraced landscapes of Bali are endlessly mesmerizing. Everything about this place - the food, the people, the colors, the energy is spell-binding. So looking forward to the next magical journey ahead.
This goes out to everyone, but especially to my friend today in need (you know who you are): Believe in the crazy notion that you once rose from the waters to begin walking on two feet. Everything is possible. Keep looking forward and living your dream. What unfolds in between are just the crinkles. The more you walk the smoother the path becomes. Walk on my friends!
It's simple - slow down and take your attention inward. Take extra time in the early sequences. It will give you a roadmap for the rest of practice. There is simply no substitute.
The Monkey Forest is one of the highlights for the upcoming Heed Yourself Bali Retreat on Oct 15-21, 2016. We will have the pleasure to visit these guys and gals in the forest, by the temples, in the countryside and even by some oceans. If this kind of thing speaks to your heart you've come to the right place. Reserve your spot now at www.heedfitness.com/bali. All levels are welcome. Luxury private villas in the tropical forest oh my! Spa facilities oh my! Open yoga deck oohlala! Ask any questions my way! Spots are very limited this year so don't wait until they're gone or until flights get pricey again! This is one of those cease the day moments- if you're considering, act swiftly :)
Avoidance is the recipe for nothing. If there's something in your life you've been meaning to do, or something you have to do but doing everything to avoid it, put on your badass face, get out there, and just do it. Life. That's how we reach our goals. Even when we find excuses not do.

Anytime I train, practice, teach, race, or perform at any level, I take a few minutes of going completely inward. First I usually hide (literally) in a place where no one else is around so I can gather my calm. One I arrive in the place where I'm surrounded by noise or distraction before the "event" (performance, race, practice, training, teaching, talking, whatever) occurs, I take another few moments completely to myself walling everything else away. Sometimes I call it focus, sometimes I call it meditation, the result is the same. I think this tool so useful in life that I like to encourage others to try utilizing it before, during, or after quite frankly *anything* in life. You will think better, feel better, do better, and recover better.
This is me about to do an ad hoc performance at the last night of my 2015 retreat at anamaya, with a couple of fractured ribs from a surfing mishap on day 3. I listened to my body before and during and managed to move without pain or strain, rather just expressed what was wanting to happen then and there. I attribute that to this moment of finding my calm and inner focus.
One of my favorite things to do in the middle of a run is to pause and find a little lunge and an added twist. I don't mind the interruption. The benefits are immediately tangible - greater range of motion and integration of entire musculoskeletal system over running stiff and stuck together like glue.

Whether we call something a yoga pose, gymnastics, fitness, or martial arts, at the end of the day, becomes irrelevant. There is so much crossover between the disciples of body movement, sports, artistic expression, and meditative movement. What speaks to me most is the effect it has on my physical being, my psyche, and my clarity of thought. When executed properly, I always get taken back to the moments of competitive sport and how a basic centering with breath was absolutely critical to performing my best on a given day. Moral of the story - when your body and mind move congruently, amazing things can happen, both in practice and what ensues in your life afterwards. Carry on. Move beautifully. Feel good. Be you.
This is essentially a big part of what I teach my students and clients. If you'd like to join me, reach out to me at email@example.com to learn more about my public classes, workshops, retreats, and private coaching sessions. In the meantime, carry on my friends. Move as you were intended to perform, exist, and think beautifully.
How we perceive our experiences and surroundings has a direct impact on what goes on within. At times, it's our own perceptions that make a situation or conversation feel offensive, terrifying, or insurmountable. These are the times it becomes the most challenging to perceive things with an added light, a unique interpretation, a subtle difference. Start simple. Ask yourself today about one thing in your life - "If I approach this from a different angle, even if it feels absurd to my "normal" - might it become more innocuous?" The answer might not be obvious or clear right away, but give it a try. Over time, notice the effects.
With love~Daily dose.
We spend so much of our lives living frontal heavy - leaning forward, slouching, driving, texting, reading, cooking. A variety of poses like upward facing dog (Urdhva Mukha Svanasana), cobra (Bhujangasana), even splits (Hanumanasana) can help counteract these frontal imbalances and make us feel and operate better by expanding the heart, chest, shoulders, arms, hips and legs.
Come explore some varieties of frontal body opening at tonight's Wednesday Night Fireside Yoga @ 7 PM, Mariner's Village Clubhouse.
Barriers are simple - artificially created walls we've erected amongst and between ourselves. Know that however daunting they may seem - oftentimes they remain quite pliable, just like you. Whatever barriers seemingly stand in your way or between yourself and a relationship, an opportunity, or just your way of thought - acknowledge their impermanence and pliability. Continue to explore creative avenues to enter new frames everyday.

Workshops, in the deconstructing of poses, sequences, and transitions, become an integral part of learning advanced practice safely and interactively. They will be a key component to 2015's syllabus! Here is my favorite photo from last year's Handstand Workshop. I get so happy seeing all the expressions of excitement, encouragement, and accomplishment. This is why practicing in workshop settings help practitioners learn skills that once felt unattainable. Looking forward to presenting a variety of workshops at the 2015 Ultimate Movement Retreat! They were by far the most fun at last year's retreat. Witnessed so much growth by all. See you there....Naheed
